Deep Datum Installation
To ascertain accurate level and distortion survey data it is essential to relate the levelling points to a fixed position. In some cases this can be a point on the building away from the area of damage. A more reliable alternative is to drill into the ground (typically 6 metre) and install a datum rod from which level readings can be referenced. This deep datum should be sited independent of any site influences.
